Christian Hammer

Born in 1959 in Bückeburg, in 1990 the pianist and conductor Christian Hammer was engaged as music director at the Nordharzer Städtebundtheater in Halberstadt.

Christian Hammer first received piano lessons when he was six, and additionally organ lessons at the age of eleven. He played the organ regularly at the Schlosskirche of his home town. After his Abitur (school leaving examination) he studied conducting at the conservatory for music and theatre in Hanover with Professor Herbert Jöris.

In 1985, Christian Hammer went to the Staatstheater Braunschweig as solo repetiteur and conductor. In the same year, he became director of the orchestra "Göttinger Musikfreunde". As guest conductor, he visited Cheltenham, Danzig, Gloucester, Göttingen, Koblenz, Cracow, Mannheim, Oxford and Posen.
