Phillip Langshaw

Phillip Langshaw was born in Sydney, Australia. He cornpleted his extensive musical studies in Australia, Germany and Switzerland. He came to Cologne in 1972 on a scholarship.

He has become an internationally-known artist in the bass genre through numerous engagements at festivals and concerts in Europe, Asia and Australia. His unusual vocal quality and extreme musicality have impressed both audiences and the press alike. His differentiated and expressive treatment of text in the "Lied-" and oratorio areas also play a role in making artistic encounters with Phillip Langshaw memorable experiences.

His repertoire includes literature from the early baroque period to the modern. Phillip Langshaw is professor at the Highschool for music in Cologne. Numerous radio-, LP- and television recordings attest to the artist' s unusually high musical standard.
