Ingeborg Hischer sings lieder by Schubert, Brahms, Wagner, Strauss |
Braunschweiger Zeitung (20.12.1997) |
The soul in love, ... ... Of course, the repertoire of the first SICUS-CD, Ingeborg Hischer sings lieder by Schubert, Brahms, Wagner, Strauss (sic 001-02) is set between the known and the established, but this cannot to be reproached, in particular as Ingeborg Hischer manages to perfectly interpret the tenor of Franz Schubert's Goethe-compositions "Ganymed" and "Gretchen am Spinnrade" (Gretchen at the spinning-wheel). Touching ascents of a soul in love are reflected in Hischer's warm mezzo-soprano. Her voice also empathetically follows the dark sides of life, such as in Brahm's "Der Tod, das ist die kühle Nacht" (The death, this is the cold night). Wagner's "Wesendonk-Lieder" show that the vocalist remains faithful to her chosen type of interpretation: All in all, a mature, pleasing recording. As a matter of fact, this CD was recorded in the Kleiner Saal of the Braunschweiger Stadthalle. Therefore we have a superior room. The sensitive accompanist at the piano is Christian Hammer, music director in Halberstadt since 1990 and previously solo repetiteur at the Staatstheater Braunschweig. |
