About this CD "Lieder des Lebens und der Liebe" (Songs of Life and Love) is the title of the collection of poetry published in 1824 by the Dessau poet and privy councillor Wilhelm Müller. It was this collection on which Franz Schubert based his song cycle "Winterreise" (Winter Journey), composed in 1828 and published as Opus 89. Already the designation "for a singer with pianoforte accompaniment" allows for a female as well as a male view of the contents of these art songs. Be that as it may, there have so far been only a few recordings of this cycle sung by women. With this album, SICUSKlassik is now proud to present a recording of the "Winterreise" subtitled "Lieder des Lebens und der Liebe" as interpreted by a mezzosoprano. |
