The year 2010 marks the three-hundredth anniversary of the birth of Giovanni Battista Pergolesi. To celebrate this occasion, a jubilee concert took place at the St. Maria in Riddagshausen Monastery Church (Brunswick) on 18 April 2010 featuring Pergolesi's “Stabat Mater.” The performance, enthusiastically received by the audience and given under the special acoustical conditions of this Cistercian church (it has a natural echo of about 7 seconds), subsequently led to the decision to present the live recording of this concert on a CD. The temptation was not resisted, however, to fill the theoretically remaining space on the CD with more works.
